Policies

Peer Review Policy

The Periodic Series in Multidisciplinary Studies is committed to upholding rigorous academic standards through a robust peer review process. All submitted manuscripts—whether monographs, edited volumes, or individual chapters—undergo double-blind peer review to ensure scholarly integrity, originality, and relevance. In this process, both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous to maintain impartiality.

Each submission is initially evaluated by the editorial team for scope, formatting, and basic scholarly merit. Suitable manuscripts are then assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers assess the submission based on originality, methodological soundness, clarity, significance of the research, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback and a recommendation to accept, revise, or reject the work.

Authors are given an opportunity to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments. Revised submissions may be sent back for further review, if necessary. The final decision on acceptance lies with the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the editorial board, based on reviewers’ input and the overall quality of the work.

We maintain transparency, confidentiality, and academic fairness throughout the review process. Reviewers are expected to disclose any conflicts of interest and maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript content. We also encourage constructive, respectful, and unbiased reviews that support the advancement of scholarly research.

Plagiarism Policy

The Periodic Series in Multidisciplinary Studies maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing practices. All submissions must be the original work of the authors and properly acknowledge the contributions of others through appropriate citation and referencing.

Every manuscript submitted to the series is screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software. This includes checks for direct copying, inappropriate paraphrasing, self-plagiarism, and duplication of previously published material without proper citation. Manuscripts found to contain significant plagiarism will be rejected immediately, and in serious cases, the authors’ affiliated institutions may be notified.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the authenticity of their work. Any previously published content (including text, figures, or data) must be clearly cited and, if reused substantially, must be accompanied by proof of permission from the original publisher or copyright holder.

The editorial team reserves the right to take corrective actions, which may include retraction of published work, blacklisting of authors, or other actions deemed necessary, in cases where plagiarism is confirmed after publication.

By submitting to this series, authors affirm that their work is free of plagiarism and adheres to ethical research and publishing standards.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Periodic Series in Multidisciplinary Studies is dedicated to ensuring ethical standards in all stages of the publication process. We adhere to the principles set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all parties involved—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—to uphold these values to maintain the integrity of academic publishing.

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit original work. Any content from other sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
  • Multiple Submissions: Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one publication simultaneously or previously published in the same form.
  • Authorship: All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as authors. Any form of ghost writing or honorary authorship is unethical.
  • Data Integrity: Authors must present accurate data and provide access to supporting datasets upon request, when possible.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the content of their manuscript.

Duties of Editors

  • Editorial Independence: Editors evaluate submissions based on scholarly merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality throughout the review process and not use any unpublished information for personal advantage.
  • Handling Misconduct: In case of ethical complaints or suspected misconduct, editors will initiate investigations and take appropriate action, which may include retractions or corrections.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: All review materials are confidential and must not be shared or used for personal advantage.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify any relevant published work not cited and report any suspected plagiarism or duplication.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should recuse themselves if they have a conflict of interest with the work or authors.
Duties of Publisher
  • Editorial Independence: Respect the autonomy of editors in making publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
  • Ethical Oversight: Support adherence to ethical guidelines (e.g., COPE), including handling misconduct and ensuring fair practices.
  • Peer Review Integrity: Ensure that peer review is confidential, unbiased, and conducted ethically.
  • Transparency: Clearly communicate policies on authorship, conflicts of interest, corrections, and retractions.
  • Content Preservation: Guarantee long-term access and archiving of published material.
  • Conflict of Interest: Manage and disclose any potential conflicts involving authors, editors, or reviewers.
  • Corrections and Retractions: Promptly address errors or ethical concerns with corrections, retractions, or clarifications.
  • Support: Provide tools, training, and assistance to editors, reviewers, and authors to promote best practices.

Ethical Oversight

  • Any allegations of research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism, will be investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines.
  • The series reserves the right to retract or correct published material if ethical violations are confirmed.
  • Complaints and appeals related to publication ethics will be addressed transparently and fairly.

Reuse of Content in a Thesis Policy

The Periodic Series in Multidisciplinary Studies permits the reuse of content from an author’s previously published thesis or dissertation, provided that the following conditions are met to ensure transparency, proper attribution, and academic integrity.

  • Source Acknowledgment: If the content being submitted is derived from a previously published thesis or dissertation, authors must clearly state this in the manuscript and in the cover letter at the time of submission. The original thesis should be cited appropriately.
  • Rights and Permissions: Authors must ensure that no restrictions exist on the reuse of their thesis material. If the thesis is under embargo or held by an institution with reuse limitations, authors must obtain formal permission before submission.
  • Substantial Modification: While reuse is allowed, authors are encouraged to revise and expand upon thesis material to ensure the content fits the format, audience, and standards of the series. Simple reproduction without significant scholarly development may not be accepted.
  • Plagiarism Checks: All submissions, including those based on theses, are subject to plagiarism screening. Text overlap with publicly available theses must be properly cited to avoid self-plagiarism concerns.
  • Exclusivity: Content that has already been published elsewhere (e.g., in journals or edited volumes) as part of the thesis must not be submitted unless the previous publisher permits reuse and appropriate permissions are obtained.

This policy aligns with our mission to support the responsible dissemination of academic work, including the transformation of theses into high-quality scholarly publications. Authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office with any questions about reuse policies or permissions.
